Dar Pomorza

Three-masted sailing ship from 1909, a former training ship, moored as a ship museum at Nabrzeże Pomorskie in Gdynia.

Opening hoursAdmission 28 zł Partially accessible

About the museum

The Dar Pomorza is a three-masted sailing ship built in 1909. From the 1930s to the 1980s it served as a training ship for pupils of the Szkoła Morska (Maritime School) in Gdynia, future officers of the Polish merchant fleet. Today it is moored at Nabrzeże Pomorskie in Gdynia as a ship museum, one of the branches of the National Maritime Museum in Gdańsk.

Visitors can go on board and see the interiors of the former training ship: the captain’s saloon, the officers’ mess, the sick bay, the steering positions and the engine room. A separate attraction is a cabin furnished in memory of the writer Karol Olgierd Borchardt, who sailed on the ship.

The route leads along steep ladders and narrow passages below deck, so the museum limits the number of people on board to 100. Exhibit captions are in Polish and English, and an average visit takes around 40 minutes.
