About the museum

The Centrum Nauki Experyment opened on 1 June 2007 on the initiative of the Gdynia local government. Initially it operated as part of the Gdynia Innovation Centre (Gdyńskie Centrum Innowacji), and in March 2012 it became an independent self-government cultural institution, whose organiser is the City of Gdynia. The seat is in the complex of the Pomeranian Science and Technology Park (Pomorski Park Naukowo-Technologiczny) at al. Zwycięstwa 96/98.

In 2010 construction began on a new building connected to the park's conference complex. Thanks to the extension the floor area of the centre grew sevenfold, and the solemn reopening took place on 7–8 September 2013; laboratory workshops were also set up at that time. On the opening weekend around 5000 people saw the new exhibitions.

Today the centre presents permanent interactive exhibitions, where visitors carry out experiments on their own, as well as temporary exhibitions, workshops, shows and guided visits with an educator. It offers programmes for schools and kindergartens, families, adults and companies. The exhibitions are devoted, among other things, to physics, health, water, magnetism, the depths of the oceans, and nature and evolution.
