About the museum
The Brother Albert Museum (Muzeum Brata Alberta) has operated since 1963 as a memorial room of the Congregation of the Brothers of Albert (Zgromadzenie Braci Albertynów). It is housed in a complex at ul. Krakowska 43, which formerly served as a municipal warming shelter and later as a hostel run by the Albertines. Today the building is the congregation’s general house.
Two rooms display paintings by Adam Chmielowski, that is, St Brother Albert, along with small mementos of his life and his work among the poor. Works by his friends hang alongside, including Leon Wyczółkowski, the author of the well-known portrait of the saint. A separate part of the collection is a painting collection by Piotr Koczaj.
