Opening hoursAdmission 7 zł
Temporary location (expected until 2028). Since 17 May 2026 the main building at ul. Kilińskiego 7 has been closed to visitors because of the move to the new seat at ul. Węglowa 7; the Military Park at ul. Węglowa 3 is open to visitors. The opening of the new seat is planned for 2028.

About the museum

The Military Museum in Białystok began operating in 1968 as a department of military history attached to the regional museum, and in 1976 it became an independent institution; its first director was Zygmunt Kosztyła. The collections include medieval edged weapons, cavalry sabres, firearms from various European countries, military equipment and uniforms, mainly Polish, German and Russian, as well as historical documents.

The first permanent exhibition, “Dzieje oręża polskiego” (The History of Polish Arms), presented about a thousand years of Polish arms and military affairs. From 2010 further exhibitions were created, devoted to the interwar period, to the years 1939–1956 in Podlasie and to the Polish Army in 1956–2010. The museum also ran the Fotoplastykon and the Military History Research Centre (Ośrodek Badań Historii Wojskowości), operating since 1980, which organises conferences and publishes scholarly works.

From 17 May 2026 the exhibitions in the main building at ul. Kilińskiego 7 are closed to visitors, because the museum is moving to a new seat in a former warehouse at ul. Węglowa 7, next to the existing Military Park and the Muzeum Pamięci Sybiru (Museum of Remembrance of Siberia). The opening of the new building is planned for 2028.

During the move, the Military Park at ul. Węglowa 3 is available, where vehicles, artillery and other large objects that did not fit in the former building are displayed in a covered hall. Most of them are Soviet-made equipment used by the Polish Army, restored and secured.
