About the museum
Fernando Namora (1919–1989) was born in Condeixa, where he lived until the age of ten and where he discovered his love of drawing, painting and writing. The Casa-Museu Fernando Namora opened to the public on 30 June 1990 and is run by the municipality of Condeixa-a-Nova.
As well as evoking the writer's early home, the house displays the documentary collection transferred from the study of his residence in Lisbon: manuscripts, original notes, typographic proofs and books published and annotated for future editions, which together make up the writer's workshop. His private library exceeds 4,000 volumes, and there are personal objects, including medals, decorations and prizes.
There are also two painting displays: one with works by Namora himself, who saw painting as another vocation, and another with works by various Portuguese and foreign artists, which reflect his interests.
