About the museum
The Centro de Arte Manuel de Brito (CAMB) shows the collection assembled by the gallery owner and bookseller Manuel de Brito (1928–2005). When the collector died, the collection numbered around 2000 works of sculpture, painting and drawing, including works by 160 Portuguese artists, among them Paula Rego and Júlio Pomar, and 43 foreign artists. It has continued to grow since then through new acquisitions.
The centre opened in November 2006 in the Palácio dos Anjos in Algés, where it stayed for about twelve years. After leaving Algés, the family kept the collection in Portugal and the CAMB began operating in Lisbon, in Campo Grande.
The space presents the collection through thematic exhibitions devoted to artists or periods of Portuguese art, with free admission.
