About the museum
La Casa de la Arquitectura is a state-owned and state-run museum, born from Law 9/2022 on the Quality of Architecture. It was presented on 18 December 2023 with the aim of becoming a national and international reference for the dissemination of architecture, urban planning and landscape design.
It is based in the Arquería de Nuevos Ministerios, on the Paseo de la Castellana, a space of some 2,400 m² that opened in 1983 under the same name. Its collection comes from the architectural, urban and documentary heritage linked to the ministry responsible for housing and transport, and brings together objects, drawings, documents, plans and images.
As well as exhibitions, the museum organises guided tours and workshops for groups and maintains a digital platform developed with the Fundación Arquia, with the ES_ARQ database, itineraries, an encyclopedia and publications. Its programmes include the Spanish Biennial of Architecture and Urbanism, the Spanish Pavilion at the Venice Biennale and several architecture awards.
