About the museum
The Casa-Museu Concha Piquer is in the house where the singer, actress and businesswoman Concha Piquer (1906–1990), an international figure of the copla, was born on 8 December 1906. Of humble origins, she even performed in one of the first sound films. The Valencia City Council turned the birthplace into a museum to honour the artist on the 95th anniversary of her birth; it is one of the city's three house-museums, together with those dedicated to Blasco Ibáñez and Benlliure.
The ground floor houses the permanent exhibition on her artistic career, with graphic documents, personal objects, records and mementos. On the upper floor are designs and sketches of her costumes and the former family home, recreated with a bedroom, dining room, living room, kitchen and hall; in the small sitting room, the singer's mother had a sewing workshop.
