About the museum
The Centro de Arqueología Experimental (CAREX) is one of the two visitor reception points of the Atapuerca sierra, together with the CAYAC. It is near the village of Atapuerca and presents itself as the first permanent exhibition devoted to experimental archaeology.
On the route, which is always guided, visitors can see and touch replicas and recreations of prehistoric shelters, tools and techniques, in order to understand how people in prehistory lived and worked. It also offers an educational programme for schools.
Guided bus visits to the Atapuerca sites also leave from the CAREX, with advance booking.
