About the museum
The Aita Guria is a replica of a real 17th-century whaling ship, which now serves as an interpretation centre on whale fishing. It is moored in the old port of Bermeo, beside the Lamera park, and visitors can go on board to learn what life was like aboard a ship of that era, when whale hunting was a pillar of the economy and everyday life of the fishing town.
Visits can be made independently or with a guided tour. The ship is also used as a setting for educational activities, seafood tastings and concerts, and is among the town's spaces that can be rented for events. Bermeo complements this offer with the Museo del Pescador (Fishermen's Museum), housed in the Gothic tower of Ercilla.
