Centro de Interpretación del Cine en Asturias (CICA)

About the museum

The Centro de Interpretación del Cine en Asturias occupies the fourth floor of the Casino de Asturias in Gijón, in the space once taken up by the “general” seats (localidades) of the former Cine Hernán Cortés. The centre is dedicated to the history of Asturian cinema and to its most significant figures and works.

It has permanent and temporary exhibitions, a media library, a screening area and a lecture room. The media library includes a teaching area with an encyclopaedia of Spanish cinema, an individual viewing station, around three hundred pieces of film and television soundtracks, a guide to audiovisual companies in Asturias, internet access and a library.

As well as visits, the centre organises film cycles, book presentations, talks by audiovisual professionals and music recitals in its 33-seat room.
