About the museum
The centre is dedicated to the recovery of historical memory and to the Intxorta resistance, a key battle of the 1936–1937 war that took place on the slopes of Elgeta. It analyses the causes and consequences of the Civil War based on events that occurred in the town and on testimonies from the time, with dignity and memory as its central themes.
The permanent exhibition is housed in the Espaloia Kafe Antzokia and occupies two rooms. It brings together weapons, tools, press of the time, models and audiovisual presentations. From there, a thematic walking route of about 5 km also leads across the slopes of Mount Intxorta, where remains of trenches, parapets and shelters can still be seen. The route can be followed independently with the “Elgeta memoria” app or on a guided tour.
