About the museum
The Fundació Suñol is a non-profit organisation devoted to contemporary art, created from the collection assembled by the collector Josep Suñol i Soler. Its headquarters are in the Les Corts district of Barcelona, on Calle Mejía Lequerica, opposite the Jardines de la Maternitat.
The space is light and calm and is organised into four areas: a bright lobby at street level, a small library open for consultation, a 140 m² exhibition room, and a private storage and reserve area that is normally not open to the public.
The foundation preserves and disseminates the Colección Suñol Soler, a broad ensemble of works from the second half of the 20th century by more than 240 artists of different nationalities. It shows works from its collection in different formats and on different themes, works with living artists who create pieces specifically for its space, and organises educational activities and projects around contemporary art. From the 1970s onwards Josep Suñol also built up an extensive library specialised in contemporary art, which is now publicly accessible at the headquarters.
