Jantziaren Zentroa - Centro del Traje

Costume museum in a 17th-century house in the old town of Errenteria, with 39 garments of European fashion from 1740 to 1950.

Opening hoursAdmission €4

About the museum

The Jantziaren Zentroa opened its doors on 1 April 2017 following a collaboration agreement between the Iraultza Dance Group and the Errenteria town council. It occupies the Kapitain-etxea, a 17th-century house in the old town that takes its name from the naval captain Matxin de Uranzu, who was born there.

The collection comes from the holdings that the Iraultza Dance Group gathered over the years and exceeds a thousand pieces. The garments on display are rotated, and when each exhibition ends they are stored at the depot of the Centro de Colecciones Patrimoniales of the Gipuzkoa Provincial Council.

The permanent exhibition 2026–2027 presents 39 pieces of European fashion from between 1740 and 1950. The first floor, with 18 pieces from 1740 to 1810, shows the move from the Rococo of Marie Antoinette’s court to the Napoleonic Empire, and the second floor brings together garments from 1815 to 1915 from France, the United Kingdom and the United States, as well as five dresses from between 1920 and 1950, one of them by the couturier Pedro Rodríguez.

  • Original garments from 1740 to 1810, the oldest in the collection
