About the museum
Kobenkoba presents itself as the first interpretation centre for Palaeolithic rock art in Europe installed inside a cave. It occupies the Cueva de los Judíos, in the Sangrices district, between Lanestosa and the Carranza valley, and explains the art produced roughly between 35,000 and 10,000 years ago.
The route is divided into three spaces. The entrance hall shows the everyday life of Palaeolithic people and their art; the Sala Norte screens an audiovisual on how the artists of the Ice Age made their paintings and engravings; and the Galería Sur, called Pinacoteca Rupestre, brings together replicas of some of the great rock art sites in Europe.
The centre also offers workshops for groups of children, including an airbrush workshop that recreates a Palaeolithic painting technique.
