About the museum
The Parketxe Armañón is the interpretation centre of the Armañón natural park and of the Ordunte mountains, in the Karrantza valley. It is housed in one of the buildings of the former Pozalagua quarry, specifically in the old ore crushing and loading station, opposite the Pozalagua cave.
The permanent exhibition is divided into three sections on the ecological, natural and cultural values of the park. A virtual flight over the mountains, their fauna, flora, native breeds and underground world is complemented by a 3D experience simulating a 40-metre descent underground, and a panoramic lift goes down to an artificial cave. The centre also informs visitors about the park's main routes, some of which start from the Parketxe itself, and about dolmens, burial mounds, dolines, potholes and caves.
During the school year the centre runs an educational programme for schoolchildren. At weekends it offers guided visits to the exhibition, games and workshops for families, and environmental improvement activities.
