About the museum
The Museu Boca del Calvari stands on the site of Benidorm's first town hall. The present three-storey building opened in March 2015 and was financed through the Plan Confianza of the Generalitat, at a cost of around €1.66 million. Its aim is to show the history of the town, from its first inhabitants to the tourist development of the late 20th century, using the municipal archaeological, archive, bibliographic and photographic holdings.
The Lluís Duart i Alabart Archaeological Room, opened in July 2024, forms part of the permanent exhibition and brings together more than 500 restored pieces. These include a Roman lead anchor stock 2.2 metres long and weighing 350 kilograms.
The museum also runs temporary exhibitions and offers digital catalogues that can be accessed through QR codes.
