About the museum

The Museo del Chocolate Valor was created in 1998 in the former small family factory of Chocolates Valor. In 2008 the Generalitat Valenciana recognised it as the Museo Valenciano del Chocolate (Valencian Chocolate Museum). The visit traces the company's history from its origins to the present, including the five generations of master chocolate makers who have run it, and explains the chocolate-making process.

The museum holds a collection of machinery from different periods, from the days when cocoa was ground on stone to the present day. One exhibition room is devoted to the journey of cocoa: the legend and history of its discovery, the characteristics of the fruit, its cultivation and the ingredients of chocolate.

The route combines an audiovisual presentation, the guided tour of the museum and a panoramic view of the inside of the factory, and ends with a chocolate tasting in the shop.
