About the museum
The museum occupies eleven original caves in the Sacromonte district, restored and furnished to show how people lived and worked underground. Each space is devoted to a room or a traditional craft: the living room, the kitchen, the stable, basketry, the forge, pottery and the loom, as well as the flamenco cave and the Cuevas del Mundo cave.
The route covers the daily life of the inhabitants, Romani culture, the origins of flamenco and the legends of the place. A multimedia audio guide accompanies the visit to the museum and the district.
Outside the caves, the museum invites visitors to explore the natural setting of the Darro valley and to climb to the Mirador de las Cuevas, from which the Alhambra and the city can be seen.
