About the museum
The Museo de la Ingeniería, Tecnología e Industria (MITI) was founded in 2005 at the Higher Technical School of Industrial Engineering of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena. Its purpose is to preserve the history of technological progress and its industrial applications, with particular attention to the origins of industrial engineering, and to bring science and engineering closer to the public, supporting school education and an interest in engineering.
In 2019 the School Board approved its own regulations, which created a Management Board; the museum is run by a director-curator and organises exhibitions for children, young people and the general public. Each year it takes part in the Cartagena Museums Night. It is located on the Muralla del Mar campus, in the former Royal Naval Hospital.
