About the museum
The museum occupies part of the air-raid shelters on calle Gisbert, excavated beneath the Concepción hill from 1937. They were among the largest in Cartagena, with capacity for some 5,500 people, and were left unfinished.
The visit covers part of the galleries and explains what these shelters were like, daily life during the war, passive and active defence, with the DECA (anti-aircraft defence), and the bombings the city suffered, including the four-hour bombardment of 25 November 1936. The route ends with an audiovisual of real footage of the conflict.
