About the museum

The MUPA is the centre for promoting the craft and art of palmito in Aldaia and the Valencian Community. Its collection brings together antique and modern fans, from the 18th century to the present day, along with the machinery and traditional tools used to make them.

The museum is housed in the Casa de la Llotgeta, a Renaissance-style building from the late 16th or early 17th century, with three floors and an outdoor courtyard, which has been restored. The permanent exhibition is spread over ten spaces, and temporary exhibitions are held in the Llotgeta room on the second floor.

The first fan workshops in Aldaia were set up in the mid-19th century, and the town came to have at least eighteen craft families. The museum forms part of the Ruta dels Palmiters d’Aldaia and of other networked projects. The flood of 29 October 2024 affected the museum.
