About the museum
The Museo Municipal de Santiponce is named after the goldsmith Fernando Marmolejo Camargo, whose donation forms the core of the permanent collection. It is housed in the town's former slaughterhouse, on the calle La Feria, next to the Teatro Romano de Itálica.
The collection brings together replicas of famous archaeological pieces commissioned by the Ministerio de Cultura (Ministry of Culture), such as the crown of Recesvinto, the Tartessian candelabrum of Lebrija or the Almohad keys of the city of Seville. On the ground floor the building has a large exhibition hall divided into several spaces and, on the upper floor, three rooms for temporary exhibitions.
