About the museum
The Museu Raset occupies a large manor house in the Raset district, on the outskirts of Cervià de Ter. Part of the building dates back to the 13th century and combines Gothic and Renaissance elements. It was the original seat of the noble Catalan Raset family, who influenced public life and the Church for centuries. In 1939, during the Civil War, the poet Antonio Machado took refuge in the house on his way into exile in Collioure. The house lies on the Camino de Santiago and the Via Augusta, and it is a Bien de Interés Cultural.
The building houses the works of the Bueler-Bernard collection, which brings together more than 800 pieces, including paintings, prints and three-dimensional works. The collection focuses on modern art, with a metaphysical core from 1945 to the present, and also includes still-life painting. Most of the works are by Spanish and Dutch artists.
Visitors see four exhibition rooms and the garden; the ground floor of the main building is only opened for group visits. The museum offers school programmes, leisure activities and art workshops for children and young people.
