About the museum
The Ceramics Section of the Museo de Zaragoza is located in the Casa de Albarracín, within the Parque Grande José Antonio Labordeta. In 1956 a project was launched to build five buildings representing Aragonese vernacular architecture, but only two were built: the Casa de Albarracín, which houses the ceramics, and the Casa Ansotana, devoted to ethnology.
Since the museum's refurbishment in 1990, the Casa de Albarracín has displayed the ceramics collection. The route is organised by the function of the ceramics, their development and the decorative styles of the Aragonese production centres, and includes everyday pottery from across the region.
The collection brings together decorated ceramics from Muel, Teruel and Villafeliche and folk pottery from Aragon. Highlights include an Argaric bowl from the Bronze Age, a jug with bands from Calanda of the 20th century, a spice jar from Talavera de la Reina and a fruit bowl from Alcora.
