About the museum
Almedahls Museum is housed in the old linen factory at Stationsvägen 2 in Dalsjöfors and is run by the Textilmuseet (Textile Museum) in Borås. The museum shows textiles from the whole production of the Almedahl-Dalsjöfors factories, as well as photographs and stories from the history of Dalsjöfors Väfveriaktiebolag (Dalsjöfors Weaving Company).
The museum is based on the collecting work of Gustav Mårtensson over sixty years. Thanks to that, it can show textiles such as Signe Sohlman’s Drakduk, a formal damask tablecloth manufactured from 1877 to 1989, and the Linnelinjen (Linen Line) with patterns by Astrid Sampe, which changed the Swedish household linen cupboard.
Machines, textiles and photographs give insight into the work of the weaving mill in Dalsjöfors.
