Borås Brandkårsmuseum

About the museum

At Borås fire station there is a museum that tells the story of fire protection and rescue services in the town. The town fires of the 1600s, 1700s and 1800s, which threatened Borås again and again, hold a central place in the exhibition.

Visitors can take a closer look at fire extinguishers, uniforms, vehicles and other equipment, and some of the objects are several hundred years old. The objects are shown in period settings where the history of the rescue service is presented. The museum was renovated with the help, among others, of retired firefighters and reopened in April 2023.

The museum is run by Södra Älvsborgs Räddningstjänstförbund (Southern Älvsborg Rescue Services Association). Visits are often led by retired firefighters who themselves were involved in the work on the museum, and visits take place by booking.
