About the museum

The Engelsberg–Norberg Railway, also known as Norbergsbanan, is a standard-gauge railway of about 18 kilometres between Ängelsberg and Kärrgruvan in Västmanland. The line runs via Högfors bruk (ironworks village) and Norberg through the ironworks environments of Bergslagen. The southern section between Ängelsberg and Snyten is electrified.

Operations are today run by the museum railway association Engelsberg–Norbergs Järnvägshistoriska Förening, ENJ, which was formed in 1999. The association runs historic rail buses on selected operating days in summer and at special events. The station building at Kärrgruvan serves as the association’s base and ticket sales point.

In recent years the association has had to renew its operating permit, and the permit has now been restored so that the rail buses can run again. At Oljeöns dag in Ängelsberg in September 2026, three return trips ran between Kärrgruvan, Norberg and Ängelsberg.
