About the museum
Museet Lilla Gunnebo is located in the ironworks village of Gunnebo in Västervik Municipality and is housed in one of the oldest buildings in Tjust, built around 1685. The house was owned, among others, by Hans Andersson, a merchant in Västervik who died in 1724.
The building was renovated when Gunnebo bruk (ironworks) celebrated its 200th anniversary and was then inaugurated as a local history museum by Prince Bertil. The museum holds many objects from the 18th and 19th centuries that tell of life and work in the locality. Gunnebo PRO is responsible for the museum’s opening.
