About the museum
Tom Tits Experiment is Sweden’s largest science centre and is housed in an industrial building completed in 1900. The idea is to be a place where everyone can let their curiosity and creativity run free and make discoveries, above all in natural science and technology. The building has more than 400 experiments spread over four floors, and an experiment park that is open for part of the year.
The name comes from a fictional character in a French magazine from the late 19th century. Tom Tit presented scientific experiments that readers were encouraged to try for themselves, and the character later got a book of its own, La science amusante par Tom Tit. In the same way, visitors here can experiment on their own, in whatever order they like.
Tom Tits Experiment is owned by Södertälje municipality through Telge AB and is a member of Svenska Science Centers. The organisation also runs its own preschool and offers professional development for teachers. Most visitors are families with children.
