About the museum
museum9402 is the local history museum of the municipality of Mörschwil on Lake Constance. In an old house by the Häftlibach stream, it shows how people lived and worked in earlier times. Many everyday objects that are taken for granted today did not exist one or two centuries ago and were later regarded as major advances; objects from around 1800 onward tell this story.
The exhibition is spread over three floors and divided into several thematic areas, for example firefighting, agriculture and trades. Many of the trades shown no longer exist today, while others have survived to the present. On the top floor, the museum shows life in different centuries and decades, accompanied by stories that bring the visit to life.
The museum is not open on a regular schedule but on request. Guided tours for groups of 5 to 15 people are free of charge and can be booked by e-mail. The house has no lift; according to the municipality, a visit is only worthwhile with children from third grade onward.
