About the museum
The idea of a local museum in Bergün goes back to the founding assembly of June 14, 1959. For a long time it remained a vision. Only a generous donation from Victor Cloetta made it possible to acquire the north half of the Haus Michel on Chant da Farrer. On October 31, 1981, the foundation "Fundaziun Museum Bravuogn" was established in Bergün; it still runs the museum today.
The farmhouse, built between 1560 and 1600, was converted and extended into a museum in four stages. The official opening took place on September 20 and 21, 1991. The house retains rooms, and in some cases fittings, as they were customary in Graubünden farmhouses.
The donor stipulated in the deed of gift that the house should not be a rigid, occasionally shown old Graubünden house, but a living cultural and meeting place for young and old. The museum follows this with newly designed summer and winter programs each year, in which changing exhibitions animate the two parts of the house, Sulèr and Cuort. The house also permanently displays a model railway of the Preda–Bergün line. The museum can also be rented for celebrations and occasions.
