About the museum
The Dorfmuseum Wiesen opened in 1978 and is located on Obergasse in Davos Wiesen. It takes visitors back to the 19th century: the rooms are furnished as a house in Wiesen might have looked at the time. The parlor (Stube), kitchen, bedroom – “Chammra” in dialect – and weaving room look as if the residents had only just stepped out. Many household items and implements recall the everyday life of earlier generations; a special piece is the large loom.
The furnishings are complemented by a collection of historical postcards from Wiesen and an exhibition on the ibex. The film “Schwindelfrei” presents the life and work of Richard Coray, the pioneer of bold timber centering. Such centerings made it possible in the 19th and 20th centuries to build large bridges, including the Wiesner Viadukt, the largest viaduct of the Rhaetian Railway (RhB). In addition, the museum regularly presents temporary local history exhibitions. It belongs to the Davos village museums, together with the Medizinmuseum and the Wintersportmuseum in Davos Platz.
