About the museum

The Thomas-Legler-Haus in Diesbach in the Glarner Hinterland commemorates Thomas Legler (1782–1835), a career officer who took part in the crossing of the Beresina in 1812. The museum is located in his birth house, an original wooden house from the 18th century.

The house is run by the Stiftung Thomas-Legler-Haus, which was intended as a cultural venue for the municipality of Diesbach. According to earlier information, the original parlor could be viewed on request, with a small permanent exhibition on the officer's life. According to its own statements, the foundation is currently in transition, which is why the house remains closed.
