About the museum
The Broxburn and Uphall Community Museum is one of the local community museums run by West Lothian Council’s Museums Service. It is located inside the Strathbrock Partnership Centre on West Main Street in Broxburn.
Its permanent local history exhibition was co-curated with volunteers and presents the history of Broxburn, Uphall and their communities through objects, a digital interactive display and a pin display about the local bings, which is aimed especially at children. Items in the collection include a carved shale boot, a Dux Medal of 1910–1911, an Italy Star and a canning machine. The area was formerly known as Wester and Easter, and its Gaelic name, Srath Bhroc, means Valley of the Badgers. At the time of research the permanent exhibition was off display and due to return in 2027.
