About the museum
Green Lane Museum stands in Roe Valley Country Park near Limavady. Its collection shows rural life in the Roe Valley in the 19th and 20th centuries, including farming, local trades and the linen industry. The collection is owned by Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, and the building is maintained by the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs.
The museum closed during the Covid pandemic, and the council's museum service looked after the collection during that time. It reopened in April 2023 with the help of volunteers from the Roe Valley Ancestral Researchers, and it welcomed more than 4,000 visitors in its first year after reopening.
It is open on weekends and Bank Holidays during the summer season, and admission is free. Temporary exhibitions and craft demonstrations take place at selected times through the season, and volunteers lead 'Walk and Talk' tours for schools and groups outside the normal opening hours.
