About the museum
Limavady Museum is run by the museum service of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council and is based in the Roe Valley Arts & Cultural Centre on Main Street, Limavady. The centre opened in October 2010 and includes a dedicated heritage space, the Ritter Gallery, where temporary exhibitions of local and regional interest are held through the year.
The museum's collection reflects the local and social history of Limavady and the rural and industrial heritage of the Roe Valley. Most of the objects are kept in purpose-built storage facilities on site, and visitors can arrange an appointment with the museum service to see parts of the accredited collection that are not on display.
Besides exhibitions, the heritage programme at the centre includes talks, workshops and activities for local schools. The museum service also looks after Green Lane Museum, a small seasonal museum in Roe Valley Country Park that shows farming and linen-industry objects from the area.
