About the museum
Hillingdon Museum is run by Hillingdon Council as part of its Museum and Archives Services. It opened to the public in December 2025 in the former Middlesex Suite of the Civic Centre in Uxbridge, next door to Uxbridge Library.
The new space allows the council to show many objects for the first time, including items that had previously been too large to exhibit. Over 2,500 objects are on display, among them a twelfth-century grant that is the oldest document in the borough’s collection and the Hillingdon Hoard, more than 300 Iron Age coins found during excavations for the HS2 railway.
The archives service has a search room in the same building where visitors can consult historic documents and get help with family history research.
