About the museum
Llandovery Museum & Visitor Gateway is run by volunteers through the Llandovery Heritage CIO, a registered charity. It is based at Y Gannwyll on King’s Road, next to the town car park, and also acts as a place where visitors can ask local people about the town and the surrounding area. The museum was previously known as the Llandovery Heritage Centre.
Its displays and collections cover about a thousand years of local history. Themes include the medieval castle, the drovers’ roads along which livestock was taken to market, farming, industry and the everyday life of the community.
The museum is open from spring to autumn on weekdays and Saturdays at lunchtime, and everyone is welcome free of charge.
