About the museum
The Manx Transport Heritage Museum is housed in the old brickworks office on Mill Road in Peel, beside the line of the former Peel railway. It opened in 2002 to record the history of transport on the Isle of Man, with a special focus on Peel.
The best-known exhibit is an original Peel P50, a three-wheeled micro car made in Peel in the 1960s that is the smallest production car ever built; only 50 were built and 27 are known to survive. Alongside it are photographs, small-scale models, railway memorabilia and a replica of the motorbike George Formby rode in the film No Limit.
Outside, across the road, parts of the Peel Railway survive, including the water tower and the body of a passenger coach. The museum relies on memberships, donations and sales of souvenirs and books, and an annual classic and vintage vehicle rally is held on the first Sunday of August, alongside Peel Carnival.
