About the museum
Shotts Heritage Centre is part of the North Lanarkshire museums network and is housed within Shotts Library on Benhar Road. It tells the story of the town and the people who lived and worked there.
The displays reach back to the Covenanting heritage of the seventeenth century and follow the town through the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, when heavy industry grew up around Shotts and later declined.
A local studies and research area gives visitors the chance to look further into the history of the area. Because the centre shares a building with the lending library, a visit is easy to combine with a trip to the library.
