About the museum
The Wireless in Wales Museum celebrates the part Wales played in the development of radio and broadcasting. It was founded by David E. Jones, a lifelong radio collector and campaigner for Welsh causes, who died a few weeks before he could open the exhibition and publish his book Wireless in Wales, on which the exhibition is largely based. The museum opened in 2008.
The small collection is arranged in time order and includes rare and representative radios and related memorabilia, including a 1935 Alba 501 set. It looks at the history of broadcasting in Wales, its influence on national identity and the Welsh contribution to wireless technology. The Culture Division of the Welsh Government accredited the museum in April 2025.
The museum is in the Canolfan Iaith Clwyd building in Denbigh and has a new wildflower garden. It also organises monthly talks on Friday evenings, in Welsh and English with simultaneous translation, together with Cwmulus.
