Over het museum
The Locronan museum was founded in 1934. In 2020 it took the name of its founder, Charles Daniélou, mayor of Locronan and several times a minister. It holds a collection of Breton paintings that bears witness to the intense artistic life of Brittany at the beginning of the 20th century, including works by Émile Simon, Désiré Lucas, Kamesuke Hiraga and Yvonne Jean-Haffen. It is part of the Route des Peintres en Cornouaille.
The rooms show works from the municipal collections: a large view of Tréboul from above by Henri Barnoin, etchings by Marie-Renée Chevalier-Kervern, and canvases by Désiré Lucas and Henri Le Sidaner. A large painting by Odette Pauvert, the first woman to win the Prix de Rome, in 1925, has been back on display since its restoration in 2019; it is listed as a Monument historique.
Works given by Charles Daniélou and by the Recteur Maurice Dilasser can also be seen. In 2018 the town acquired the sculpture Anne de Bretagne by Jean Fréour, installed at the entrance together with pieces by F. Bazin, A. Beaufils and M. Le Louet.
