Over het museum
Vianden’s city museum is housed in a former burgher’s house on Grand-Rue and shows how the town’s residents lived in the 18th and 19th centuries. It traces roughly a thousand years of Vianden’s history.
With its new concept, the museum immerses visitors in historical and cultural atmospheres. Musical installations, pictures and objects tell the story of Vianden, its history, its people, its crafts and its humor. The themes include a 1950s bakery, “Vianden von den Kelten bis heute,” and an exhibition on the Luxembourgish national poet Edmond de la Fontaine, known as “Dicks,” who in the 19th century lived and worked in Vianden, among other places. Another area is dedicated to vaudeville.
