Over het museum
The museum was founded on the initiative of the Fundación para el Desarrollo de l’Horta Sud, with the aim of publicising the traditional culture of the comarca. In November 1995 the Foundation bought a building to house it and began collecting pieces donated by residents of the comarca. The Generalitat Valenciana officially recognised the museum by an order of the Conselleria de Cultura, Educación y Ciencia on 28 February 1996.
To manage it, a consortium was formed on 3 May 2000, made up of the Mancomunitat Intermunicipal de l’Horta Sud, the Torrente town council, the Fundación para el Desarrollo de l’Horta Sud and Caixa Rural Torrent. The rehabilitation works were completed at the end of 1999 and the facilities were inaugurated on 28 June 2000. In 2003 new facilities opened with two temporary exhibition rooms, separate from the permanent exhibition, and the museum added to its name that of its founder, Josep Ferrís March.
The building is a former farmhouse built in the first decade of the 20th century. The permanent exhibition shows how a family in the comarca lived in pre-industrial society, when they depended on working the land. The holdings are divided into household items, farm tools, and tools of craft trades and services; only those of the home and farm work are on display.

There are ramps with a gradient of around 8% on both floors, a lift for 8 people (630 kg) and an access lift to the andana. The accessible toilets are on the ground floor.
