Om museet
The museum is devoted to Dr. Louis Auzoux, born in 1797 in Saint-Aubin-d'Écrosville, near Le Neubourg. From 1824 he made take-apart anatomical models out of papier-mâché, which were sold around the world for more than 150 years and were used to teach medicine.
Opened in 1995, the museum was enlarged in October 2005 with an additional exhibition room. The collection was donated by the Auzoux company, which still makes resin models today. The museum displays molds, presses and manufacturing tools, and a film in a neighboring room shows a female worker at work.
It also holds around 200 pieces of fauna and flora recovered in 2002 from the Auzoux workshops in Saint-Aubin-d'Écrosville, such as a tsetse fly, a bee, a fern or germinating wheat. A temporary exhibition room is located on the upper floor.
