About the museum
The museum is housed at the foot of Évreux cathedral, in the former episcopal palace, a building listed as a historic monument. It was created about 150 years ago to display local archaeological finds. Today it is one of the main places for understanding the city's past and, more broadly, the history of art. It holds the Musée de France label.
The collections range from archaeology to fine arts, including decorative arts, ethnology and contemporary art. The circuit thus takes visitors from prehistory to the 21st century. The first two rooms display part of the Gallo-Roman collections.
The underground archaeology room is currently closed to the public. The museum offers guided tours led by cultural mediators, workshop-tours for children during school holidays, and tools for visitors with disabilities.
