Om museet
The museum was inaugurated in 1925 in the premises of the Paris Faculty of Pharmacy on Avenue de l’Observatoire. It honors the chemist Henri Moissan (1852–1907), a trained pharmacist who received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1906 for his work, notably the isolation of fluorine.
The museum traces Moissan’s scientific life through instruments, documents, photographs and medals. The faculty has been on this site since 1882 and also keeps other objects connected with Moissan in the Galerie Valette, including his Nobel diploma, his electric furnace and a replica of the electrolysis cell used to isolate fluorine.
