Om museet

The Museum Terug in de Tijd is located in Horn (municipality of Leudal) on the Napoleonsweg and sees itself as a journey into past decades, focusing on the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. For older visitors it is meant to be a celebration of recognition, while younger ones marvel at what life looked like without smartphones and social media. The building is generously laid out but cosily arranged.

The centrepiece is a reconstructed village. You stroll past the hairdresser, butcher, VIVO shop and haberdashery, see the dentist's practice and, on the way to the chapel, a classroom, and discover the SRV milkman's van, an old-fashioned living room and a village café. Every shop is designed in the style of the time, right down to the goods on the shelves.

In addition there are toys from tin cars to Schildkröt dolls to numerous toy kitchens and construction sets such as Meccano, a collection of old guitars and other instruments, a jukebox and a "Bimbobox" with playing monkeys, and vehicles: antique carriages, classic mopeds from Zündapp to Puch and several vintage cars. On the same site, behind the party centre De Nimrod, there is a restaurant for groups and celebrations.

Transport & parkering

From the A2 (from Eindhoven or Maastricht) take exit 41 Ittervoort/Venlo, then about 6 km on the Napoleonsweg N273; the museum is on the left. From the A73 from Nijmegen take the Maastricht exit onto the N273, continue about 1 km straight ahead after the Horn junction, museum on the right.
