Om museet
The Vughts Museum began in 1973 as the "Verzamelkamer Vught," soon became the "Vughtse Oudheidkamer" and from 1995 was called "Vughts Historisch Museum." For a long time it was housed in the old mill on the Taalstraat. When the building became too small and a move to the former Sint-Petruskerk was in sight, the exhibition received a thematic structure from 2010 and the house took its current name. It opened on April 6, 2018, in the DePetrus meeting center on the Heuvel. In 2025 it was officially registered as a museum.
The collection comprises around 3,000 objects in ten areas, such as war history, crafts, associations, schools, toys, clothing and devotional prints. There is also an art collection with works mainly by Vught artists, including paintings by Grips, Slager, Luns and Frenken.
The permanent exhibition consists of theme islands (display cases) spread throughout the church space. In addition there is an alley of old crafts and a painting wall; the exhibition is currently being reinstalled. In the former choir area, the museum shows several thematic temporary exhibitions each year. The entire team is made up of volunteers. The museum is run by the Stichting Vughts Museum, supported by friends, sponsors and donors.
